About Us
In a world where everything has been said and written, Small Siren Productions seeks to tell stories in ways that haven’t been told before. Our goal is to uncover new perspectives on old archetypes. The world and its people remain the same, but each person experiences life through their own heart. Our mission is to find the heart in each story.
Have you ever wondered why children will watch the same story endlessly? It’s
because a story may take a whole lifetime to learn by heart. Life itself is a simple story:
We are born, we eat, we drink, we love, we have children, we fall ill, and we die. Yet,
each time this story is told, it unfolds as a whole new world. Children understand it
better than us. Every time they hear or see a story, it’s both different and the
same—it's their story, just as life is our life. When it is ours, and we live it with our own heart, it’s a story never told before.
It’s a little bit like the story of the rose in the “Little Prince” by Saint-Exupéry. He loved
it, and cared for it, and it was unique to him because it was his rose. We want to tell
our stories. Which are the same as ever, but these ones belong to us, and have been
conceived with our heart and our time. That’s what makes them special. That’s what
makes us want to reach out the world and let the world know about them.
We have many projects in development, but the first to be launched is a worldwide
contest for short videos retelling classic children's tales adapted to contemporary settings and modern days. We can’t wait to see how Snow White will look in a small town on the Mongolian steppes, or a village deep in the Amazon Forest of Bolivia. How will Cinderella fare in the wilderness of Alaska, or Hansel and Gretel in the woods near Beijing? It’s a world of infinite possibilities, all spun from the same stories. Come with us on our journey, and we promise we will make it worthwhile!
